The Hendersonville Chamber of Commerce is the leading voice and resource for businesses in

PURPOSE
In collaboration with the Board of Directors, provide leadership and direction of the Chamber
and Chamber activities. Ensure that the policies of the Board are implemented and that the
mission of the Chamber is achieved while upholding the highest standards of integrity and trust.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership and Operational Oversight
• Provide visionary leadership, ensuring alignment with the Chamber’s mission and
values.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, staff management, and program delivery with effective
time management.
• Develop and implement an annual budget and long-range plan.
Community and Member Engagement
• Foster strong relationships with members, community leaders, and stakeholders with
interpersonal savvy.
• Address member needs, ensuring the Chamber remains a valuable and customerfocused resource.
• Work with staff and volunteers to recruit new members and retain existing members.
Fundraising and Fiscal Management
• Lead fundraising initiatives, securing sponsorships, grants, and donations with drive and
strategic vision.
• Prepare and monitor the annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and adequate
controls.
• Plan and execute events to support revenue generation and member engagement.
Board Collaboration
• Partner with the Board of Directors to establish and achieve short-term and long-term
goals.
• Ensure transparent communication and alignment with board members and committees.
• Provide administrative support for board activities and meetings.
Public Representation and Advocacy
• Represent the Chamber at events, public forums, and media engagements with strong
presentation skills.
• Advocate for business interests, demonstrating political savvy and an understanding of
policy-making.
• Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Chamber, promoting its mission and impact.
Personnel Management
• Recruit, hire, and retain qualified employees to serve on the Chamber staff.
• Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance of personnel policies and practices for
employees.
• Foster an inclusive, positive, and collaborative workplace culture with conflict
management skills.
Marketing and Communications
• Ensure the development and implementation of a marketing plan for the Chamber.
• Manage the publication of all print and digital materials to reflect Chamber goals and
image.
• Effectively inform members, elected officials, and the broader community about
Chamber initiatives.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
• Implement all policies established by the Board.
• Submit to the Board a plan of organization for the staff and employees.
• Develop and submit periodic reports reflecting the activities of the Chamber.
• Serve as a liaison to channel communications between the Board, committees, the City
of Hendersonville, Sumner County, and other relevant agencies.
• Select a designee to act in the President’s absence as needed.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and Leadership
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in business, nonprofit, or
community-focused organizations.
• Proven track record in program development, fundraising, and organizational growth.
• Experience managing teams and fostering an inclusive, collaborative workplace culture.
• Demonstrated integrity and trust in leadership roles.
Skills and Competencies
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Understanding of community organizations and ability to work effectively with volunteers.
• Strong decision-making, planning, and organizational skills.
• Ability to effectively manage conflict while maintaining composure under pressure.

• Familiarity with the Hendersonville community is preferred.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, or a related field preferred.
• 5 years of supervisory experience required.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
