Job Title: Reconditioning Manager

Compensation: $22-30/hour based on skills and experience

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:50 am - 5:00 pm, NO WEEKENDS 

Employment Classification: Full-time position - Guaranteed 40-hours/week (OT available upon manager approval)

Manager: Director of Operations

Job Description: The Reconditioning Manager's role is to oversee the reconditioning process for sales vehicles, including service repair, detail, and quality assurance. The Reconditioning Manager operational duties include receiving vehicles, creating work orders and estimates, getting repair authorization from the Sales Department, ordering parts, ensuring arbitration deadlines are met, and overseeing the general workflow within the service and detailing process for sales vehicles  This position involves collaborating with the Service Department for dispatch of work orders and assisting the Service Manager with pursuing EasyCare (post-sale) warranty claim authorization as needed. The Reconditioning Manager is responsible for managing the detail department workflow and staff. 

Skills and Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience working in a dealership reconditioning facility or auto repair shop
  • 2 years experience as a automotive service advisor or using Mitchell1 software
  • 2 years supervisor/management experience
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Honda and Acura service experience is preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, fast-learner, self-motivated, and ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail, positive attitude, team player

Tasks and Responsibilities

Processing and Dispatching New Inventory

  • Communicate with Sales Department to oversee the arrival and payment of inventory transport
  • Dispatch new vehicle inspections

Oversee Management of Service Reconditioning Process

  • Utilizes technician’s inspection notes to create repair estimates  
  • Utilizes problem solving skills to determine best vendor for ordering parts based upon principles of quality, timeliness of delivery, and cost
  • Following completion of inspections, communicate and receive approval of recommended repairs from Sales Department
  • Coordinates with the Service Advisor to schedule and dispatch inventory repairs 
  • Fluently uses and references Mitchell1 calendar to oversee repair workflow
  • Orders accurate parts, outsourcing questions and parts ordering  to Service Manager when support is needed
  • Ensure service work orders are completed on time

Manage Detail Staff and Detail Reconditioning Process

  • Ensure Sales vehicles are promptly detailed 
  • Oversee general workflow of detail shop and communicate with Sales Department for expected deadlines
  • Manage and delegate work to detail staff
  • Maintain stock/supplies needed for operation
  • Oversee cleanliness and organization of detail shop

Warranty Administration

  • Assists the Service Manager with pursuing EasyCare (post-sale) warranty claim authorization and goodwill claims
  • Communicates EasyCare authorizations with Service Manager

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure inspections are completed within the arbitration window 
  • Complete the final Quality Assurance Check prior to vehicles being advertised or sold - ensuring vehicle service reconditioning process is at company standards
  • Assists Sales Department in scheduling inventory photographs and advertising
  • Keeps record of vehicles completed in service and detail for productivity monitorization
  • Work alongside Service Manager and Sales Department on any workflow concerns or needed delegation of tasks if barriers arise
